Association for Healthcare Philanthropy Announces 2008-2009 Board of Directors

WASHINGTON, D.C., Sept. 27, 2008– The Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP), an association of more than 4,800 executives of philanthropic programs in not-for-profit hospitals, clinics, health systems and related facilities throughout North America, announced its recently elected Board of Directors.

The Board of Directors is the chief policy-making body for the association with overall responsibility for ensuring that AHP’s business, property, and affairs are managed in a manner consistent with its purposes, bylaws, and applicable laws. Officers serve one year terms, and regional directors serve for two years.


Officers of the association are:


Chair: Lisa Hillman, FAHP, senior vice president and chief development officer for Anne Arundel Health System (AAHS) in Annapolis, Md., and executive director of Anne Arundel Medical Center Foundation, the health system’s philanthropic arm. AAHS is the umbrella organization for Anne Arundel Medical Center and an array of health care facilities serving Anne Arundel County and other nearby Maryland communities.

Chair-elect: J. Gregory Pope, FAHP, vice president of philanthropy at Saint Thomas Health Services in Nashville, Tenn., a faith-based ministry with more than 7,200 associates serving Middle Tennessee and consisting of Baptist and Saint Thomas Hospitals in Nashville, Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro and Hickman Community Hospital in Centerville.

Past-chair: Laura W. Rehrmann, FAHP, president of the Group Health Foundation in Seattle, Wash., the philanthropic arm of Group Health Cooperative, which Rehrmann serves as vice president for community responsibility. Group Health Cooperative is the second largest consumer-governed health care system in the U.S.

Secretary-Treasurer: Emily Benham, CFRE, vice president of development for the Bayfront Health Foundation in St. Petersburg, Fla. Ms. Benham directs philanthropic initiatives for Bayfront Medical Center, a major trauma and teaching hospital.

Vice-chair for Membership and Communications: Mary Anne Chern, FAHP, ACFRE, vice president for fund development and external relations for White Memorial Medical Center in East Los Angeles, California, a 350-bed acute care teaching hospital. White Memorial Medical Center is a part of Adventist Health.

Vice-chair for Regional Affairs: Susan J. Doliner, FAHP, associate vice president for development for Maine Medical Center which serves as a community hospital for the people of greater Portland, Maine and as the premier tertiary care center for northern New England with 606 staffed beds.

Vice-chair for Education and Certification: Pamela Puleo, FAHP, vice president for philanthropy and public affairs for Concord Hospital in Concord, N.H., a regional medical center that is the second busiest acute care hospital in New Hampshire with 240 staffed beds.


AHP regional directors are:

 

AHP Midwest: Bruce A. Bartoo, chief philanthropy officer and foundation president for the Sisters of Mercy Health System in Chesterfield, Mo., a 19-hospital system with health ministries in Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas.

AHP Southeast: Candace C. Burnett, president for Huntsville Hospital Foundation in Huntsville, Alabama, a non-profit organization with a mission to develop relationships and financial resources in support of Huntsville Hospital.

AHP Pacific: William S. Littlejohn, CEO and senior vice president for Sharp HealthCare Foundation in San Diego, Ca., an integrated regional health care delivery system based which includes four acute-care hospitals, three specialty hospitals and two medical groups, plus a full spectrum of other facilities and services.

AHP Mid-Atlantic: Julie E. Cox, CFRE, vice president of development for LifeBridge Health in Baltimore, Maryland consisting of Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, Northwest Hospital, Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital, Jewish Convalescent & Nursing Home and LifeBridge Health & Fitness. LifeBridge Health is a nonprofit institution with a mission of providing quality patient care, teaching and research.


AHP New England, Heather Johnston, director of annual fund and special events for the Anna Jaques Community Health Foundation in Newburyport, Mass., providing philanthropic support to the Anna Jaques Hospital, a 123-bed community hospital serving the Merrimack Valley.

AHP Rockies and Southwest: Barbara Larson, CFRE, administrative director for INTEGRIS Baptist and INTEGRIS Southwest Medical Center Foundations in Oklahoma City. INTEGRIS Baptist is a 508-bed facility with comprehensive health-care programs and services. INTEGRIS Southwest Medical Center offers medical, support and rehabilitation services with 369 beds.

AHP Canada: Linda Saunders, CFRE, regional director of development for the South-East Health Services, part of Regional Health Authority B in New Brunswick, Canada, which includes Sackville Memorial Hospital, the Moncton Hospital and Albert County Health and Wellness Center.
