The health of communities around the globe will be enhanced by a philanthropic web that includes people and resources woven with a common purpose of quality care and wellness for all humanity. AHP makes this possible as the trusted source for virtual and real networks of professionals and volunteers who make an impact in their communities through health care philanthropy.
To Realize Our Vision, Here’s What We Are Going to Do: AHP Goals & Objectives
AHP promises to provide exceptional experiences, a vibrant community and essential resources for the success of the health care development profession. In addition, we will emphasize these four strategic pillars:
1. Knowledge
AHP will be the definitive source – both in person and virtually – for ideas, tools, and resources for health care philanthropy.
Goal: AHP is first choice for knowledge and information that contributes to enhanced professional performance of those engaged in health care philanthropy.
Suggested objectives
1.1. Expand delivery formats as well as the quality and relevance – in person and virtual – for education and knowledge to ensure they are accessible to anyone engaged in health care philanthropy.
1.2. Strengthen our capacity to explore new ideas and approaches for the profession, and foster greater innovation through a robust program of research and development.
1.3. Pursue opportunities for collaboration both inside and outside our community.
1.4. Offer learning experiences that can be customized to the needs and resources of a diverse group of members and participants.
2. Engagement
AHP will engage professionals, volunteers, and partners in diverse, global, and vibrant communities – both in person and virtually.
Goal: AHP is the professional community of choice for health care philanthropy.
Suggested objectives
2.1. Connect those in health care philanthropy with others who share their needs and interests.
2.2. Promote and nurture a culture that supports diversity in every facet of the organization.
2.3. Advocate for the health care philanthropy profession to (a) support its role in promoting health in communities and (b) advance its role as a fundraising organization that enables health care institutions to achieve their missions and visions.
3. Leadership
AHP will develop and prepare successive generations of well resourced leaders for the benefit of both AHP and health care philanthropy.
Goal: The profession and its association will have a depth and breadth of capable, credible and experienced leaders to ensure success well into the future.
Suggested objectives
3.1. Cultivate, inspire and encourage AHP leaders in their volunteer involvement service to AHP and the profession.
3.2. Identify the leadership needs of those working with, and those working in, health care philanthropy.
3.3. Build programs of leadership development that are targeted at various levels of experience and expectations.
3.4. Develop and promote paths to AHP leadership ensuring highly qualified, experienced, and motivated potential candidates for national and international leadership roles within AHP.
4. Standards
AHP will engage a wide range of health care executives, partners and the public in understanding, accepting, and following AHP established professional standards of excellence for health care philanthropy.
Goal: AHP will be the recognized source for the establishment of standards in health care philanthropy performance measures.
Suggested objectives
4.1. Expand the program and database of effective health care philanthropy practices through benchmarking and the reporting standards therein to foster public trust, promote confidence in health care philanthropy and to protect the credibility of health care philanthropy and the interests of the public.
4.2. Build a branding and public relations campaign to recognize AHP as the source for setting standards in health care philanthropy.
4.3. Establish a Health Care Philanthropy Standards Board (HPSB) for industry leaders to regularly review program standards.
4.4. Promote the highest level of personal certification and achievement in the health care philanthropy profession.
