Congratulations Sidney and Lois Eskenazi – Winners of the 2012 AHP Midwest Distinguished Philanthropist Award
Indianapolis couple Sidney and Lois Eskenazi have been honored as the recipient of the 2012 Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) Midwest Distinguished Philanthropist Award for their $40 million gift to the capital campaign benefitting the new Wishard hospital facilities.

The Midwest members' recognition of the contribution from Sidney and Lois Eskenazi to the Wishard Foundation, now named the Eskenazi Health Foundation, took place at the 2012 AHP Midwest Regional Conference on May 7 in Cincinnati, OH.
The historic $40 million gift provided by Sidney and Lois Eskenazi on June 22, 2011, is one of the most significant donations ever given to the people of central Indiana and is one of the largest gifts ever made to a public hospital in the United States.

Award criteria and nomination process
Nominations for the 2012 Regional Conference award year are now closed. Check back in early 2013 for nomination information regarding the AHP Midwest Distinguished Philanthropist Award for 2013.
Nominees and deliberations are kept confidential. The winning recipient(s) remains confidential until the actual presentation.
Nominations are judged solely based on information provided on the nomination form. Please supply support for your nominations in a concise essay (no more than two pages) noting the requirements below:
- Description of individual's (or couple’s) direct contribution to and support of organizations in your community and/or region. Other contributions nationally or internationally are welcomed but not required.
- Description of specific accomplishments in health care. Be specific: projects, facilities, new programs, dollars raised and given by the nominee, etc.
- Description of participation in and support of other non-profit organization in your community or region. Be specific: dates, roles (active not figurehead), donations made by the nominee and outcomes, etc.
- Description of nominee's personal involvement in leading others to be involved in philanthropy or community volunteer service.
- Confirmation of individual’s ability to attend presentation at the Philanthropy Award Luncheon at the AHP Midwest Regional Conference. Attendance by the recipient is mandatory.
