On January 1, 2004, the final phase of the federal privacy legislation (a.k.a. PIPEDA) came into force. As a result, there have been many questions and concerns around the impact of this legislation on the activities of those of us in the not-for-profit sector. At the same time, various provinces have enacted or introduced legislation of their own that may impact what we do as development professionals. Fundraising professionals (including representatives of AFP, AHP, APRA and CCP), who developed the Privacy 101 Guide in 2003, prepared the following information:
