2010 Survey. In January 2011, AHP surveyed more than 4,000 U.S. and Canadian health care development professional to see how they had fared in 2010 and the lingering impacts of the recession on fundraising programs and results. While the vast majority reported continued negative effects from the economy, significantly more fundraisers reported no effects or postive effects compared to 2009. Annual fund and major gift revenue continued to be hardest hit, but employee giving and special event revenues saw some increases in 2010. 2009 Survey. In December 2009, AHP surveyed more than 4,000 U.S. and Canadian health care development professionals to see how they had fared in 2009 and the impact of the recession on fundraising programs and results. The vast majority reported being negatively affected by the economy, but through increased program activity and program adjustments, over half were able to maintain their original 2009 giving projections. More members reported reductions in operating budget and staff as a result of the recession, than was projected by members in the 2008 survey. Download 2009 Survey Results.

2008 Survey.  In December 2008, AHP surveyed more than 4,000 U.S. and Canadian health care development professionals to gain a better understanding of how they were coping with the econonmic recession. The results indicated that the vast majority of those surveyed have been negatively effected by the economy. The ability to achieve giving goals was equally divided, with about half reporting that through program adjustments and increased activity they anticipated achieving their giving goals, and the other half reporting reductions in their forecasts.
